Cookie Policy
Last updated
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. Most are strictly necessary to keep you signed in. On the marketing site, we may also send privacy-hardened analytics pings to understand what content is working.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads — such as the fact that you are signed in. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage) work the same way and are covered by this policy.
2. What we use cookies for
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you signed in to the dashboard.
- Remember your preferences (e.g., a theme or sidebar state).
- Cache dashboard data so a refresh doesn't hit a "Loading…" state.
- Detect and mitigate abuse (e.g., rate-limit evasion).
3. Categories we set
| Category | Purpose | Lifetime | Strictly necessary? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Session cookie that keeps you signed in to app.mentionwell.com. | Until sign-out or expiry | Yes |
| UI preferences | Local storage of dashboard state (e.g., last-active site). | Up to 12 months | Yes |
| Cache | Dashboard data persisted to local storage so reloads are instant. | Up to 24 hours | Yes |
| Security | CSRF and rate-limit cookies set by the API. | Session | Yes |
| Marketing analytics | Anonymized, cookieless measurement events on mentionwell.com (page views, CTA clicks, scroll depth, form events) when analytics is enabled for the site deployment. | Session only | No |
The dashboard categories above are strictly necessary for the Service. The marketing-site analytics row is separate: it is configured with advertising features disabled and storage denied by default, so we can measure visits and CTA performance without enabling cross-site advertising profiles.
4. Third-party cookies
The marketing site at mentionwell.com is a static Astro app. When analytics is configured for a deployment, it may send anonymized measurement events to Google Analytics 4. Advertising features are disabled and the site does not use cross-site behavioral profiling cookies.
The dashboard at app.mentionwell.com sets only first-party cookies. Some of our subprocessors may set their own cookies on their own domains when you visit their sites — see the Subprocessors page for direct links to their cookie policies.
5. How to control cookies
- Browser controls. All major browsers let you block, delete, or expire cookies. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will sign you out and may break dashboard features.
- "Do Not Track." We do not currently respond to DNT signals because we do not perform cross-site tracking.
- Analytics controls. Privacy extensions and browser anti-tracking features may block marketing-site analytics requests entirely. That does not affect the product itself.
- Withdrawing consent. If we later enable richer non-essential cookies beyond the current privacy-hardened measurement setup, you'll be able to withdraw consent at any time via a banner control. Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before withdrawal.
6. Changes
If we add a new category of cookie, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
